Fans are being asked to remove rainbow coloured arm bands while watching the football. Qatar claims that it wants people to respect its culture which is all fine and good but if you want people to respect your culture you need to respect theirs too.

@Tres13 when traveling as a lone tourist in another country that is most definitely advised especially if under normal circumstances what you might be doing may be culturally insensitive but in a situation where a country that is hosting a global event chooses to be the country that is culturally insensitive itself and is also in support of a culturally insensitive neighbor
, then I have to say that you reap what you sew.

Many years ago I travelled around the eastern Mediterranean and through Egypt and while having many many memorable travel experiences the level of hypocrisy I encountered while bartering blew my mind. Hense when I read about the rainbow community being treated like shit at an international event despite the hosts being well aware of the cross section of people likely to turn up to the biggest international football event ever, they still say one thing but do the total opposite.
To that I say, you treat others like shit in front of the eyes of international press you shouldn’t be surprised at the ramifications.
