This is going to be long and messy
but I'm going to be using the Hungary category as my Erasmus diary 😅
We arrived in Budapest in the evening (me and the other girl from Greece, we weren't friends then but we knew each other from University) and we had to go to the city we would be staying in, which is two and a half hours away by train. By the time we arrived it was almost 23:00 and we went to the reception of the dormitory so we could get to our rooms (but first we had to carry our heavy luggages up the stairs lol). They said we wouldn't be in the same room, which was okay. I tried opening the door with my key but there was another key already in from the opposite side so I knocked a few times and a girl opened the door. It turns out there were two twin sisters and they were already sleeping because they had work tomorrow so we didn't say much. My room was already decorated from one side but my roommate was still in Russia for her winter break and she would come back a week later. The next days I got to know the girls better, they offered me Mongolian food, we watched movies, we talked about our lives, relationships, spirituality, politics and became really close.
When my roommate came back, we also had a good communication, but we weren't as open yet, although in time we grew really close and now I know we'll continue being in each other's lives despite being far away.
I love all three of them, because we were all respectful towards each other (many people had problems with their own roommates or just weren't that close). I was cleaning and they were praising me, we shared food, tea, snacks, alcohol, clothes, advice, books...
With the greek girl, we also became really close friends. We walked the cities together, went to the supermarkets which were basically our playground, met new people, went to parties, attended lessons etc. We would talk about anything openly and of course without the fear of being understood in public, which made everything twice as fun. It turns out we share similar values and opinions so of course we're still hanging out in Athens.
I'm so glad I got to know all these wonderful girls and I hope our plans of meeting soon will work out.
