Observing Fet Gede…

Some Creoles also observe The Day of the Dead. I posted a story about it here years ago. I can’t find it now, not sure where it went.

I generally don’t, but this morning my sister texted me early that she was going to "visit Mom" so I got dressed, she picked me up and we went. We bought some flowers and took them to the cemetery.

We didn’t say much, and afterwards picked up some donuts that we took by the house. Pop was still in bed, but awake. We had also brought him some coffee, we gave him a hug and then headed on back. I was back home by 9 am.

At one point, we just sat in Sis’ car and cried. It’s been almost two years and we still miss Mom so much. 😞

Does Creole culture take things to the cemetery for the deceased?
@Crazywaterspring Sometimes, like food or drink. But this particular cemetery doesn’t allow that so we settled for flowers.
