About 2 years ago, we were told that "AI" was on the verge of transforming the world. Some of us bought into the hype.

People were even preparing to quit their jobs, convinced we would soon be lounging at home collecting government checks while AI took care of everything. But there were also skeptics among us. We cautiously said, "Psst! Listen, this so-called AI is really just a buzzword for algorithm based programming." Others were driven by greed. They compared the AI frenzy to the dot-com boom. Now, the moment of truth for AI has arrived. And quite frankly, it is underwhelming.

Now, we cannot say, "AI is useless." AI is being put to good use in places like China, where it's driving innovation. Meanwhile, here in the U.S., we are using AI to make silly videos, aimed at entertaining people with short attention spans. Another win for China!

I use AI in business every day. One day when you grow up and get a job, things might look different to you.

@carpediem There’s no need for me to defend myself, because you don’t know who I am or what I do. My point was that AI hasn’t provided any significant boost to productivity. That’s not just an opinion; it’s evident in the fact that we’re on the verge of a recession and haven’t seen a substantial increase in economic output over the past two years. Much of what’s labeled as AI is still essentially algorithm based programming.

@Jokersswild I am finding something entirely different. I am saving loads of time when doing things like market studies, summarization of lengthy email chains, notes on Zoom meetings, analysis of contract documents, and now even search engine marketing. Call it whatever you'd like, but AI has produced significant time savings on two of my three businesses. Also, I have no clue where you're from, but in my world, we are nowhere near a recession.
