I Am Chinese

Ok so I choose 2 groups on here that I am Chinese and I am Taiwanese. It is very difficult to explain this to people who do not understand the political history of Taiwan and also the ethnic history of the people. I am Chinese ethnically, the same as any other Chinese person in the world, whether born in China or born anywhere else. In Taiwan 95% of people are Chinese/Han.

But, I am proud of Taiwan, the Republic of China. I believe in Taiwan as the real and legitimate Republic of China but I am also realist about this and I understand that perhaps in my lifetime Taiwan will become again part of Peoples Republic of China. For my parents and grandparents they do not want to hear this. And I am brought up to believe in Taiwan as the Republic of China. It is shame what is happen in history, but of course now is about what is best to do.

I am proud of our Presidetn Tsai Ing-Wen and her stand on Beijing, Taiwn is ok to respect PR China and to coexist. Maybe this is best solution if only Beijing can do the same for Taiwan.

As someone who has visited both Taiwan and the mainland many times and have friends in both places.

All I can say is to treasure your freedoms. If Beijing takes over, they will be gone ... even in Hong Kong, it's slowly eroding.
