after a few years of getting exploited by the eu, they'll come back to grovel...

@wildbill83 Trump has more to gain by waiting till they start breaking apart , letting the more socialist provinces wither on the vine and offering to help the provinces with something to offer … and closing the northern border.

270%? And we're only just hearing about this now? This is one extreme claims that makes me wonder just how much there is to it

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP production caps/quotas serve the same purpose, it only drives up export costs. US producers could easily go above Canada's quota, but they'd be penalized for it (several billion pounds worth are thrown away every year)
Basically, milk tariffs/quotas are a government cartel designed to drive up market prices & deter free market/competition (much like your maple syrup industry).
in other words, instead of letting free market/supply and demand determine market prices, tariffs/quotas manipulate market to artificially drive up prices.

@wildbill83 free market? So you're against subsidizing dairy?
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP I am when it limits growth & competition. Years ago, we produced lots of dairy and poultry here until subsidization killed off all the smaller/family owned producers & monopolized it
same thing happened with textiles and furniture, NC used to be among the largest producers in the world; then subsidies and trade agreements came along, killed most of it off, drove up prices & low and behold much of it gets sent overseas...

The problem is Trump's stance. It's that of a bullying liar with an ulterior motive.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@DangerGirl Trump is doing exactly what we elected him for, putting our country first; not being a kiss ass to arrogant/condescending Europeans and letting the US be the world's welfare office...
Our stance, not his

@wildbill83 How can US be thought a welfare office when it hoards wealth and cries for more?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@DangerGirl because the government spends our taxes like drunken sailors
