In a land covered in wood
I use wood in my CNC machine for art projects. I find someone wanting to get rid of a table or furniture, and as long as it is real wood, not presswood or plywood or some junk like that, I can repurpose it.
Was looking for some Oak for a project, went to a local store here. They want $12.50 per board foot, so basically one plank costs $100.
WTF, how many man hours is that?
We literally have trees all over the place here.. Yea, some cost to haul it, some to cut it, some to dry it, and then the middleman.. or is that the end man, who finally sells it to you while paying rent and taxes and employees.
Still.. $100 is a lot of money for one plank.
I wonder if someday people will be breaking into houses to steal wood from inside. Ripping off a door and running down the street laughing at their good fortune.
