My Dad Got Laid Off Due To US Tariffs From Trump

The company he now used to work for depended heavily on American businesses to thrive. They had to lay off new/junior employees, before eventually laying off veteran/senior employees too. Sadly, my dad is turning 68 so he could've retired almost 3 years ago, but chose not to as me and my sister still haven't gained financial independence. I could've had I done the gig apps during the scamdemic, instead of this and last year where demand has died down a lot. I currently donate plasma and do some work off TaskRabbit to make some money, and although I signed up for background acting agencies, most opportunities aren't viable.

Either they require actors to self drive (or have someone drive for them), get up super early and work pretty much the entire day, and/or meet a bunch of weird requirements. And even then, BG acting isn't consistent enough and most of the time barely pays much, so I guess I should've never signed up for them. Don't bother telling me to keep looking for jobs the normal way in this economy, and when employers will do anything and everything to prevent people from working "real" jobs. I statistically have a better chance of becoming a stud than to get a proper occupation at this point, not even exaggerating. I don't drive so many opportunities I could do with a vehicle are inaccessible to me, and it'll take years before I can get a full driver's license.

I studied social sciences during my time at university and computer programming during college, which both don't help me get any jobs whatsoever (although coding has let me make some stuff I can probably profit from in the far future idk). The business culture in Canada sucks so fucking bad, so I can't get my automation startup to take off anytime soon, unless I can somehow get foreign investment but Canada is a joke. There's still becoming a security guard and my uncle wants me to work at the soda factory he used to work at (he retired years ago), where my cousin works after the filming place he worked at went bankrupt. If those don't work out, I can try setting up a non-profit for some innovative idea I got, as Canada has a good charitable culture.
