Canada has oil and refineries, why don't we separate from this global oil crisis

Why do we have to suffer high gas prices when a tyrant decides to kill women in children in a foreign nation far far away?
We have our own oil and refineries, why not just set our own prices and ignore the global barrel price?

The problem is that you have private companies profiting from the sale of public assets.

Why would they ignore the opportunity to make a profit?
