Does Alberta really want to join the USA?

A few nights ago on a British TV news show (Newsnight) an American Republican spokesman - perhaps he was even a Congressman - asserted that not only did Greenlanders want to join the USA but when it comes to Canada, Alberta was already asking to join. I know he made the first bit up, but it was news to me about Alberta. Is there an iota of truth in his claim or that another hallucination?

The Edmonton Oilers would get way more appreciation as a US based NHL club than they do as a Canada based one. Alberta’s oil and natural gas reserves would be harvested and benefit Alberta’s residents. More businesses would be established again benefiting Alberta’s residents.

When it comes to Greenland the residents will fin that the only change to their daily lives will be improved income, living conditions and safety.

@jackjjackson It seems that a lot more persuasion is needed in both cases. Certainly, the question that was ignored by the spokesman twice was about respect for the way of life and choices of the Greenlanders.
@jackjjackson The US would move in and sell guns to everyone, steal all the resources and then destroy all of nature, kill everything for giggles. Just like in the USA. They would probably find a way to deport people born in the country too, just like in the US.
The US can't even keep a stable government running these days, let along manage another country. The complexity would be too much and abuse would be rampant.
That comment will be given the attention it deserves from whoever reads it. @JamesBugman

@jackjjackson That's very true. It deserves attention.

@jackjjackson Y'all can't even take care of your own, nobody out of your current national border wants to lose their healthcare and join the madhouse

Greenlanders have been extremely clear about it, and Canadians too.

@Elessar THAT is the truth.
You well know that Canada and Greenland make ns will make their own health care policy. 🙄 @Elessar
I haven’t seen anyone write it deserves anything. @FreddieUK
