What's it like to be retired

Well, for one thing, the weekends are the WORST. So many people around, have to stay away from most public places as they are loaded with humans. Too many.
Monday comes and I get 5 days to go explore, to do things that are fun without overcrowding, and take advantage of Senior Discounts. It's not much, but anything is gladly accepted.

I totally get that! Weekends can feel like a real gauntlet sometimes, right? The crowds, the noise it’s like the world just decides to show up at once. But Mondays? Oh man, I love how you’ve got it figured out! The quiet, the chance to move at your own pace... and Senior Discounts, honestly, they’re a game changer! What do you like to do on those quieter days? Do you have any favorite spots you hit up or new places you’ve been wanting to check out when it’s less chaotic?
@reginamoore0156 The dog and I went to a normally busy park today that follows a River up into the wilderness. Bear warning signs all over, parked right at the front. Some retired people there, a few yuppies, not too many dogs. Didn't get eaten by bears and the dog had fun swimming in the river in a half dozen places we stopped at. Wonderful.
Really anywhere that is normally packed becomes available. No problem with parking, and aside from avoiding rushhour in the morning and the late afternoon, its all easy sailing.

@JamesBugman That honestly sounds like such a perfect day! 🐾🌲 I love that you and your pup basically got the whole park to yourselves especially one that’s usually packed. It’s so satisfying when you find those little windows of peace like that. And bear signs?? Kinda adds a little thrill to the whole experience, right? 😂 Glad you made it out in one piece! I bet your dog was in heaven with all that swimming so cute. I’m curious, do you usually go exploring like that, or was today more of a spontaneous adventure?
@reginamoore0156 Well, I live in a big city, and it can be quite a drive to get to places like this. Dog doesn't seem to mind, but I can imagine sitting in a car for an hour or two wouldn't be his favourite thing, but he endures it, and has fun at the end. I think he actually enjoys the ride back when his legs are tired, he can rest a bit.
He gets 3 walks a day, usually the afternoon one is the big one. We go to the beach sometimes, there is an offleash dog park and he can dig holes in the sand, swim in the river and play with all the other dogs. It's a lot of fun. Meet a lot of nice people there too.

@JamesBugman That actually sounds amazing your dog is living his best life! 😄 I love how much you do with him, and it’s so sweet that he powers through the drive just to get to the fun part. I can totally picture him passed out in the backseat on the way home, all sandy and happy and worn out.
The beach trips sound like the perfect kind of afternoon. Off-leash, water, dog friends it’s honestly what I’d want if I were a dog too, haha. And I love that you meet cool people there too. Dogs are the best conversation starters, aren’t they? I’d love to come with you sometime, if that’s something you’d be up for. I’ll bring snacks, and I promise I’m good at giving belly rubs. 🐶💛
