I am a Canadian ... and today I voted in our federal election...

I am a Canadian, a Jew and I am licensed to possess firearms including what we call restricted firearms in Canada - which are handguns and I take proficiency VERY seriously..

Of the main parties in Canada being Liberal and Conservative one of these two has shown itself to be deeply anti semitic.. and that same party has repeatedly attacked citizens who are licensed for firearms.. In Canada firearms are not permitted to be used for self defence - their only legal use is for hunting or sport shooting (target shooting).. Handguns are restricted to range use only ... More over one of those parties has had an immigration policy that has resulted in an explosion of anti semitic hate crimes and has caused a crisis in housing and strains on our health care system..

So I voted, then I took my Mother to vote and my Wife will vote tomorrow..

I 100% agree with the second amendment based on my experience.

I went into a local Wetherspoons doing a bit of light recruiting for the 'Norwich Independence Army'

Yes, I was arrested by armed police. Yes, I was recruiting for a Norfolk-based paramilitary group. But in my defence, I thought it was Bring a Weapon Wednesday. Turns out it was Curry Club 😒

When they said ‘you can’t bring that in here’, I thought they meant my Tesco meal deal. Turns out they meant the Mossberg 500 pump-action and laminated pamphlets about seceding from the UK. Easy mistake 😅

I was escorted out by armed police mid-scampi. One minute I’m explaining regional sovereignty over a pint of Doom Bar, the next I’m face-down on a sticky carpet being read my rights.

Turns out the Second Amendment doesn’t apply in Norwich. Or Wetherspoons. Or the UK. Bit of an oversight in my legal research, which was mainly based on an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger.

@NativePortlander1970 Yes, well, in Norwich we conceal our weapons too — mainly to stop Judith from HR reporting us to the Parish Council again. She still hasn’t forgiven me for the incident with the letter opener and the quiche.

I tried concealed carry once. Turned out to be a pepper spray in a bum bag. Forgot it was there, sat on it, temporarily blinded myself in a John Lewis. 😒
@AlanAPartridge Lorraine, or bacon and brie?
@AlanAPartridge Oh, I forgot the shop was out of brie, and leichester, and stilton, cheddar, roquefort, gouda, parmesan, meunster, pepperjack, did you just shoot me?
