I am a Canadian ... and today I voted in our federal election...

I am a Canadian, a Jew and I am licensed to possess firearms including what we call restricted firearms in Canada - which are handguns and I take proficiency VERY seriously..

Of the main parties in Canada being Liberal and Conservative one of these two has shown itself to be deeply anti semitic.. and that same party has repeatedly attacked citizens who are licensed for firearms.. In Canada firearms are not permitted to be used for self defence - their only legal use is for hunting or sport shooting (target shooting).. Handguns are restricted to range use only ... More over one of those parties has had an immigration policy that has resulted in an explosion of anti semitic hate crimes and has caused a crisis in housing and strains on our health care system..

So I voted, then I took my Mother to vote and my Wife will vote tomorrow..

Hopefully, after Trudeau's treasonous actions during Covid against the Canadian People, that the conservatives sweep the election and restores rights back to You all. My own firearms...

I'm planning on picking up another one within the month, I'm going to look at it tomorrow and put 50% down on it to ensure I get it...

@NativePortlander1970 I beat the date on the hand gun ban and purchased ONE pistol which is registered in my name - I am not currently allowed another one... Yes we are hopeful that the Conservatives gain power in the election and reverse the ban.. there are 2.4 million licensed holders of firearms in Canada they and their families will not be voting for Liberals - ever again.. They banned almost all semi automatic hunting rifles.. This AFTER severe magazine capacity limits were imposed.. Keep in mind that they are the ones who issue the licenses and collect the fees..
@pdqsailor1 Hopefully the cons win.
@pdqsailor1 I just ordered this today, I should have it by next week...

@NativePortlander1970 nice my preference is target shooting so i have a target pistol that is extremely accurate with a reflex sight. I demand very tight groupings of myself the guys at the range say i am not being realistic and i reply that i have no choice and i must set and maintain a high standard.
@pdqsailor1 Normally tight groupings on a self defense shooting are nothing but wasted ammunition, You want them spaced out for maximum damage, putting four or five through the same hole doesn't do a thing, but in target shooting, the tighter the better.

@pdqsailor1 In reality real life is not like the movies and tv, head shots are very risky, skull bone is very thick in front and can result in ricochets if hit in the right (wrong) spot.

@NativePortlander1970 i am extremely focused controlled and deliberate in crisis situations. The last thing a terrorist wants to come across is me with a gun. Your rifle is a Ruger 10/22? These were used by IDF snipers to hit hamas trouble makers in the knees. They were very effective. I have one with the same zoom lens scope as was used in Gaza. My group is essentially a dime at 80 feet with it.
@pdqsailor1 Good for IDF, my dream .22 pistol is the Beretta Midel 70, the one Mossad operatives used for decades, Bibi's brother David used one during Entebee in 1976. It is a 10/22

@NativePortlander1970 The only firearms I own are chambered in .22... The Pistol is a Ruger Mk II target pistol with the bull barrel and the reflex sight (which I highly recommend over iron sights).. Why only .22? As I did my initial research I decided that these rimfire rounds would accomplish everything I intended of them and they were more than sufficient for the type of shooting I contemplated.. Now after the fact I have NOT changed my mind in the least.. Have you tried a Smith and Wesson Model 41 yet? I have and they are addictive - costly pistol but worth what they cost.. In terms of rifles the next one is going to be a single shot bolt action Anschuss - the type used for biathlon shooting.. A friend has one and is going to lend it to me...

@NativePortlander1970 My first was a gift from a friend who was moving from his house to a condominium and his Wife would not allow him to take it to the condo with him... A 1954 Marlin 39a lever rifle.. which is actually valuable.. It is a superbly built firearm, the craftsmanship is unmatched elsewhere.. Back then sharp shooters used what was called a peep sight and the rifle came pre-drilled to accept one.. I used those factory tapped holes to custom fabricate a bracket that used those mounting holes - the bracket comes up the RHS and sits over the rifle where a rail mount is fixed to the bracket.. and on that rail mount sits the same reflex sight I fit on the pistol and the effect was identical - it became a tack driver.. The group sizes are remarkably tight and accurate.. The lever action gun is FUN to use plus it looks amazing.. Yes the field strip of a Ruger Mk II is a challenge.. I watch a you tube video for the reassembly to get the parts in alignment correctly - and there is a trick - but yes it is a royal pain to do.. I just did it after about 300 rounds and the fact is it was not even that dirty though I could see some evidence of the slide becoming a bit sticky.. its all moot here as I can not sell it or buy another pistol in this country until and unless the Conservatives are elected.. the only hand guns coming in to Canada are smuggled in illegally by criminals and the only ones buying them are criminals.. No law abiding citizen - me included will ever get another hand gun in this country until the government changes.. There are 2.4 million license holders who will hopefully ALL vote in this election for a change of government..
@pdqsailor1 What was the caliber of the Marl8n? I am sure they will, alongside the millions of Truckers whose bank accounts were frozen, then the antivax crowds and health pros that lost their jobs over a fake clot shot, and the business owners put out of business.

@NativePortlander1970 The Marlin 39a is a .22 lever action carbine with a tube fed magazine that will accept short, long and long rifle even in combination in the tube magazine.. It's an incredibly well made rifle.... It was not millions of truckers -it was a handful.. and the courts properly ruled the business of freezing their bank accounts as grievous over reach.. The business of vaccine mandates however was deemed as being correct public health policy.. when I was a kid if you did not show proof of vaccination you were not eligible for registration at school.. it was an absolute requirement that every child be fully vaccinated to gain admission to school.. Others in my family who were not vaccinated got Covid.. One fellow I know of died from Covid.. I have been vaccinated seven times so far.. Not just covid.. additional vaccinations for shingles, RSV and more.. I never got Covid, neither did my Wife or my 96 year old Mother.. I also protected myself before the vaccines were available with a full on respirator and a face shield.. I had better PPE than the doctors had in the hospitals.. in terms of the vaccinations - zero ill effects.. I have friends who got covid and still suffer from it. -long covid .. .not me.. not my Wife and not my Mother.. zero effects..

@NativePortlander1970 I am VERY sorry for your ongoing ill effects.. One thing about me is that I am fact based and possess an analytical mind. I came to the conclusion on 22 calibre based on performance data as my guidance, I am the same way with illness and preventing it.. fact based not innuendo, not opinions, not supposition facts - cold hard facts. I have a Daughter who mistakenly believed her early Covid gave her immunity.. Nope not the second time and not the third time either.. Then she got RSV and was REALLY miserable.. She figured she knew everything better.. She did not.. The fact is I never got it, I was careful and I got vaccinated.. and I have no ill effects from the vaccinations either.. It's heart breaking enough for a parent to burry a child. in the case of the fellow I knew who died - his Grandmother was at his funeral. I am a very strange case... I am 67 no grey hair, no eyewear with perfect vision from both eyes, no medications, none... crazy flexibility - I can touch my nose with my big toe.. no pains... for some strange reason the normal effects of aging have been delayed in me.. I have a Brother in law ten years younger who has worn eye glasses before he was 40 and I can thread the needle on a sewing machine and see a mark on the water over a mile away...
@pdqsailor1 I am so very sorry for your loss :(
