What do you think of Trump's tariffs for Canada?

😇

@Burnley123 I honestly am not worried about it. The region of Canada I live in exports food and energy to the US. The US will be much harder hit than my region will be since they still need the food and the energy and are not capable of finding any alternative source. The other part I find interesting is that Trump was talking about 'annexing' Canada. Everyone thought it was a joke. Now an economic union is being floated. Annexation lite? Not sure how that would work but if the tariffs bite hard enough the old rift between the rebels and the loyalists of the 1700s may at last be put to rest.

@hippyjoe1955 Albertan oil is one of the few chips Canada can threaten trump with in a trade war. You are naive.

@Burnley123 You have no idea how integrated the food industry is between the US and Canada. The average slaughter cow crosses the border 4 times in its two years of life.

@hippyjoe1955 No but I believe you and your own case highlights the damage that trade tariffs can do. Your daddy trump is going to hurt little Canada.

You don't want to admit that yet.

@Burnley123 The point I am making is since Canada supplies and the US consumes and the US does not have any real alternative any tariff will damage the US severely. The US will still be buying Canadian oil but the price to Americans will go up 25%. America will still be buying Canadian beef but for the Americans that beef will now cost 25% more.

@hippyjoe1955 Does USA really need beef from Canada? There are cows in USA all over!
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Yes there are a lot of cattle in the US but people who are not in the beef industry have no idea how integrated the Canadian and US beef industry truly is. The number of times a cow/calf crosses the border is amazing.
