Jury duty avoided

Back in December I got a summons to appear at a jury selection court on Feb 9 at 1 PM I was told to show up a bit early to clear court security. Kind of made a mess of my day and if I were selected a block of time I really didn't want to donate to a court case I know nothing about. I arrive at 12:30 with summons in hand. At the front door there were a couple of sheriffs telling everyone that jury selection was cancelled for the day and that we were not rescheduled. IOW our names would simply go back into the random draw. I thanked the sheriff and left. Maybe by then I will have a good reason not to be on a jury.

Tell them you see compulsory jury service as a violation of your 13th amendment right against involuntary servitude. I saw a guy use this and the prosecution dismissed him a few minutes later.
