What does it mean when a Canadian says he's going to DC but he doesn't cross the US border. What is a DC in Canada?

It's this guy. He's going for a long journey across the country after he lost his wife and he randomly keeps mentioning a DC 🤔

I'm not going to watch the entire thing, but after watching for a little while, I think what he's saying is BC (British Columbia), which is highlighted in red in the picture below.
