Surely you would have to cross the border to get to the American airport?

@BittersweetPotato I'm not certain, but I believe you are incorrect... I'm thinking that US law would say airport land is US land ...
Now, that can get a bit tricky with say a Ship, as long as one stays on a ship that sails under the flag of another country, that ship is not US land (though US Customs can still board and check it, if it's in US waters). But if they get off the ship, and take one step in the ship yard, then that is US land.
Likewise, if you take one step off that plane to the airport, then you are on US soil.
Now I don't know much about planes, or interconnecting flights, but I think they make people get off the plane, so they can clean and make everyone reboard...
So going to any US airport, would be going to the US, unless you are absolutely sure you wouldn't have to step off the airplane... which I think they normally make them for cleaning and such.

@BittersweetPotato if it’s within the geographic borders of the of the USA it’s American land.
@TheSirfurryanimalWales
If you land at a US airport you'll be required to pass through customs before you can go to another terminal to take your connecting flight.. your passport will be stamped..
