If you really want to learn more about the culture and how people live there, then don't visit the touristic places. When I go to other countries I visit friends there and I stay with them usually. So I don't stay in a hotel or at some resort. This way you see how they live and their daily routine. That has always fascinated me.
The only country I went to as a tourist was Portugal. I'm lucky to have studied at an international school. I still stay in touch with my old school friends and they live all over the world. I have a standing invitation from many of them.
Brazil is just at the top of a much longer list that includes places like Dubai, Perth Australia, Taiwan, Tanzania, Finland, New Zealand and Scotland.
For you as a young woman you can take advantage of working as a nanny with a family in another country. One of those jobs usually last about a year. So when you've finished school it might be worth looking into something like that.
