Bangladesh authorities are investigating the cause of a massive fire in a Rohingya refugee camp which has razed 3,000 shelters and left 12,000 Myanmar nationals without shelter but no casualty was reported. According to the BBC, 35 mosques and 21 learning centers were also razed down.

An official said the blaze started at about 14:45 local time Sunday (08: 45 GMT) and quickly tore through the bamboo-and-tarpaulin shelters.

According to the officials, the fire had spread quickly through gas cylinders in kitchens. Currently, police are investigating if the fire was an act of sabotage consequently leading to the detainment of a man, reported the local media.

On Monday, hundreds had returned to the area, known as Cox’s Bazar, to see what they could salvage from the ruins.

'Everything burnt to ashes'
"My shelter was gutted. [My shop] was also burnt," said Mamun Johar, a 30-year-old Rohingya man.

According to the officials, it would be extremely difficult to relocate thousands of people affected by the fire as basic services were also affected in the area.
