Melbourne. Just voted the worlds most liveable city again

Yeah. I know. Its only a global travel magazines opinion. But there is this:

And just lately I am feeling even more grateful than usual..
And being thousands of kilometres away from Donald Trump cant hurt..😷

Melbourne. Just voted the worlds most liveable city again

Don't you think it's ironic that a different place, as well as a different country, is picked every year? 🤷🏻‍♂

Like cities change that much every year.

Yeah the cities change, yet the people voting change far far faster. Like from moment to moment.

@DeWayfarer You make a very good point. Local economic conditions and even the odd natural disaster feed into this of course. The other thing to consider is that this is a comparative. So the other cities conditions falling plays a part. A few years ago several middle East cities would have rated higher than they do right now. But hardly a year goes by when Melbourne, along with Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane arent hunting in the top ten. I suggest that is significant😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I still think it has a lot more to do with who is voting. I've heard those from multiple nations preferring their own cities and countries.

@DeWayfarer Again, a good point. However, there are several of these "liveable city" awards. Like this one, most are sponsored by travel magazines, reducing the local influence.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Do you believe it's fair for jet setters to be determining this? 🤷🏻‍♂

That is exactly who is voting.

@DeWayfarer I dont really think the word Jet Set means much any more. These arent the rich and famous. This is you and me on holiday..Go look at Tripadvisor or a similar site..The average middle class family can have several overseas holidays in their lifetime..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman oh I stopped looking at those magazines decades ago because they are geared to the wealthy.

Ask why those magazines are not in the family house holds, yet are prevalent in doctors offices and such.

The average person even in the USA stay at home.

I've been called lucky, because I have been to Germany. Yet even I no longer have any magazines.

None!

That is why I was able to even go to Germany. My parents refused to buy those types of things.

I had to accept tennis shoes from my German teacher. My parents refused to buy them.

Yeah I had a motorcycle as a teenager. Why? Because I had to put it together myself with the help of my half brother. No instruction manual either. It was in Czech.

That is your average USA citizen of middle class income.

Trips to Europe and Australia and India are out of the question.

You are lucky to go to just one country.

@DeWayfarer Again we agree. Americans dont travel as much as most other nations. Partly because they dont have thge time or money. But also because their own country has so much to offer without leaving home. I really wanted to go once more and take a couple of months to do the whole place properly. But never did.😷
