Was there in 1971 as a GI on R&R from Vietnam. Brief stay was 7 days but I had a lot of fun.
Memories include the Texas Tavern in the Kings Cross are and Whiskey A Go Go.
Very friendly women in those days for sure!

@KentuckyWildcats A man could catch a venerable disease in those places...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman As well as being killed when getting back to your unit in Vietnam patrolling for the enemy. I took my chances and got laid often!

@KentuckyWildcats Thank you for your service. And your contribution to the Australian economy.😷

@KentuckyWildcats I wish I could remember the name of the sandwiches bought from street vendors back in those days. Escapes me.

@KentuckyWildcats Much has changed around The Cross. Its becoming gentrified now, like so many such places...😷

@KentuckyWildcats I was there on R&R in '69. I stayed in the Kings Cross area. I can verify your comment on the night life in the area.
I also walked out on the bridge while the Sydney Opera House (pictured) was under construction and wondered what the hell it was. At that time only part the main building and just the framework of the shells was complete.
