How bad are the game fines in Australia? [I Like Australia]

There must be awfully strict game laws in Australia because otherwise why would anyone commit suicide over being caught with a sheep? Well, even though he's now a ghost, at least that swagman is still singing.

lol...it wasn't game...back in those days stealing sheep here was viewed the same as cattle rustling was back in the wild west...
