Being Saudi Arabian on similar worlds is a funny experience 😂🇸🇦

Being Saudi Arabian on similar worlds sometimes could be funny but also exhausting.

1/ *viewing Saudi Arabia only through political lenses *

This issue is particularly common among westerners especially Americans .
Imagine an average Texan uploading a picture of him doing bbq
And the majority of responses are irrelevant
political stuff like w*r cr*mes , corrupt politicians , and atr*cities done by USA
Does this response sound normal to you?
But this is what I go through as a Saudi 😂
I just mention I’m Saudi and I receive a wave of political comments when I’m no politician and even when I don’t mention politics.

And i always wonder Why is this ?
But
Then I realized if all I hear about USA is g*ngs, dr*gs , homelessness, school /mass sh*otings ,crazy amount of serial kil*ers , has one of the highest rates of incarcerati*n, involvement in w*rs all over the world
And how the richest country in the world can supply billions to other countries to do gen*cides or start coups but cannot provide free /cheap healthcare or home to their homeless then
Believe me I’d also only view America through political lenses and I would hurry to bring up that whenever I hear the word “America “ like some bot
but because I am exposed to the other side of America, which is the diverse people .
Actors singers artists influencers etc so
I don’t see the USA in one color only.
We have the same diverse and beautiful people in Saudi
But Americans due to biased or non existing algorithm and controlled main stream media with a certain agenda only see Saudi in a political sense to the point if America tomorrow inv*des Saudi and ki”*s millions with a made up lie or half excuse like they did to Iraq
They would not deeply question it

2/* pros and cons of the government *

I do not like the idea of monarchy and I don’t think it has a place in the modern world
But
Saudi Arabian government in the end of the day is like any government. By any government I mean imperfect and mostly look out for it own interest. Also
The laws change all the time and it has cons and pros.
For instance it provides free healthcare with no insurance , free education including university with even a monthly allowance for all it uni students , a generous monthly allowance for widows, no income tax , no homeless and various other perks for all of its citizens.
There is this notion that most or a lot of Saudis hate their government or wanna escape
Which is not true 😂 believe me most of Saudis love their country and are content with their government.
I study in the uk because I was given a scholarship from my Saudi government to study in the uk and I genuinely met more British ppl who wanna escape the uk and relocate than I did Saudis who wanna relocate 😅
Mind you, I don’t believe that my government is perfect and I criticize Saudi for many things including freedom of speech and it’s involvement in Yemen BUT I don’t hate my government and most saudis don’t. In fact you should see us on our national day celebrating .

3/ *myths about Saudi Arabia *

You can rightfully criticize my government as Constructive criticism is amazing and I also have a right to criticize yours
But lying and ignorance is dangerous.
I have met bizarre people on here with crazy misconceptions.
Like
“ women not being able to work “
When my mother who if she was alive today would be in her 60s was a principle at a school. My sisters in their 30s are surgeons , doctors , in cyber security , and business owners
Mind you Saudi Arabia is only 90 years old 😂 so idk where this lie comes from?
“ women are not able to leave home without a man “
wasn’t and isn’t a thing.
“Women not being able to move because they couldn’t drive until 2017-2018 “
in reality before that we used to use taxis Ubers and almost all homes had a personal live in drivers who took the women anywhere they wanted (One survey found that more than 87 percent of Saudi households employ a household drive)
“Saudi stoning people 24/7 “
in reality there is no record of Saudi ever st*ning anyone since it’s formation and especially for the last decades and decades
Saudi exec*tes ppl with firing sq*ad or b*heading which is far more merciful than usa’s electrical ch*ir and lethal injecti*n
Also
“Saudi exec*tes women for not covering up” that’s a lie such thing did not exist now or then
and in fact more men get exec*ted than women and mainly for murder.
“Saudi men are backward cold hearted and violent “
Saudi men are diverse
They’r in general kind and warm hearted people

In USA :

“nearly 20 people per minute are physically ab*sed by an intimate partner in the United States”

“1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have been victims of severe physical vi*lence (e.g. beating, burning, strangling)by an intimate partner in their lifetime.1”

“ 1 in 7 women and 1 in 25 men have been injured by an intimate partner “

* 1 in 10 women have been r*ped by an intimate partner. Data is unavailable on male victims*

Source :
https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS

So if you wanna make a stereotype about domestic violence make one but please include the American people too.

“They are raised to hate American people or if you go there as a white person They will chase you with knives “
Definitely not true
You will be chased By ppl wanting to invite you over for coffee for sure 😂😂😂
Also 40% of Saudi population are immigrants from all over the world who come for work including Europeans and Americans.
I see more Indians Pakistanis Bangladeshi Filipinos etc on the streets of my city than I do Saudis.
So It’s not like we don’t know anything about other people and 99-100 of Saudis have access to internet we don’t live under some rock 😂

4/ inability to differentiate between middle eastern countries.

First, they have different cultures and history etc
Second , they have different laws
Third ,
Not every country in the Middle East is suffering from w*r or and crime. In fact I feel far safer walking at night and crime wise in countries like (Oman, Saudi , Kuwait , Bahrain , UAE , Qatar etc )
Than I am in many European countries

I mean I got r*bbed many times in one year in uk compared to 20 years in Saudi 😂

We have People dedicated to
sports
To science
To poetry
To music
To to to
We are people with stories with families
With achievements and big hearts

I sometimes feel this politicization of counties like Saudi Arabia only dehumanizes humans
Just curious though, if you were in Saudi right now rather than the UK, how much of the above would you have been able to type online without any repercussions?

Do you worry about criticizing the Saudi government while you are abroad and then facing repercussions when you return to Saudi, or even enter a Saudi consulate in the UK (maybe not as extreme as what happened to Khashoggi)?
