@helenS The glass is half empty for you 😂
@helenS How can you tell if a Finn is an extrovert? When he’s talking to you, he’s looking at your shoes instead of his own.

@LeopoldBloom Six months of darkness every year leave their traces 😏

Scandinavia and northern Europe again!
deadgerbil · 22-25
Why isn't America on the top? It's the best country 🦅
@Carazaa College in the US is a scam. Students are fooled into taking out outrageous loans that take years to pay back, for useless degrees.
Carazaa · F
@LeopoldBloom Degrees aren't useless. Degrees can make it possible to make a lot of money! I am happy for my degrees. I have one from a State University, and one from a private University. The loan is not much compare what I'm making. I can buy a house and have a nice retirement. Graduate schools cost a lot in every country. Only bachelor degrees are paid by the governments in Europe. not graduate degrees.🙂
@Carazaa I wouldn't have my job either if I hadn't gone to college. I'm just commenting on all of the people who owe on huge student loans who don't have high-paying jobs. Savannah is full of SCAD graduates who are working as baristas.

If we're not going to have free public college, we need to get away from the idea that everyone should automatically have a college degree to be taken seriously. That being said, I would support a basic liberal arts background for everyone where they are taught basic scientific concepts and an overview of history, the arts, and political science. Ideally that could be done in high school.

We're number 15,we're number 15🇺🇸

@helenS Some parts of the UK are happier than others and you are right there are many excellent pubs but sadly the number of pubs are reducing by the day. Many are unable to make enough money you be viable. I fear once gone we will never get them back.
helenS · 36-40, F
@MrAverage1965 Maybe younger people have found other ways of socialising? They don't meet at the local pub, they meet elsewhere.
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
@helenS The supermarkets and selling beer much cheaper than most pubs, often half the price. The pubs are not selling enough beer as a result so have to make most of their money from food resulting in high energy consumption and since the war in Ukraine many have seen the cost of energy triple, even quadruple. Whilst the energy companies make record profits.

The US is quite low in that list. Must be the influence of the noisy minority on the right wing.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
Aotearoa Top Ten. 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
Somehow I see Israel going down on the list by next year's list. Bibi has really lost the plot and people are definitely not happy now however you feel about the country.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I’m surprised it’s even that high now.
I’m surprised to see Israel that high up. They must not have polled everyone.

Who did this poll, anyway? I’m suspicious.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@LeopoldBloom One of the criteria is security. Israel should rank low there.
@JimboSaturn Considering the environment they're in, I'd say their security is pretty good.

Australia got kicked down the list for having number 2 and 3 on the most expensive cities in the world to live. Sydney & Melbourne.. Thats what happens when people want to live there.😷
NATO really does make you happy! See? Ending the ecosystem and domination of the rest of us is good.
Dv8rs · 18-21, F
Predominantly caucasian, interesting.
helenS · 36-40, F
France isn't on your list?!? 🤨
Carazaa · F
@helenS Maybe they are happy but were too busy demonstrating against pension reform to partake in the survey?

@RileyLandS Gallup world poll

pdockal · 56-60, M
According to whom ?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@pdockal No. But just look it up. Let me guess are you sore because the US isn't #1?
pdockal · 56-60, M
@JimboSaturn
Don't care actually
I base things on my life
Not on some poll
Wouldn't leave even if we weren't on the poll
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@pdockal No one is asking you to leave. Same here I still love my country but I think we can learn from other countries.
1pebbles · 56-60, F
I'm ready to move! Israel looks good to me! Loved it there when I had the chance to visit!
@1pebbles Umm have you watched the news lately?
1pebbles · 56-60, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow My God is already there, that's where my hope, trust and faith is
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
That's the survey from UN SSDN.
@TheOrionbeltseeker If they polled only Republicans, we’d be at the bottom.
Israel? Really? Canada's fallen a lot since being #1
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
19th!! Hardly surprising
Carazaa · F
@HotPizza71 Why is it not surprising? I thought they were pretty happy, no?
HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
@Carazaa being next to last on a top 20 list, ain't good enough is it.. Lol
But I guess, top 20 in the whole world, is nothing to complain about

@swirlie This is my comment yesterday below to "Deadgerble" I am quite open about my comments about America in the past but I try not to be too harsh it's important to be thankful for what we have. I grew up in Europe and that is my home, so who am I to critisize The USA. But this is one of my comments yesterday to DeadGirbil,
Why are people not saying they are as happy inthe USA? Well there is a lot of influence from leaders. Are leaders positive or negative? Are cities clean or full of trash and homeless people? If we care for the homeless then they wont be trashing down the parks, and people can enjoy them more like they do in Europe. If the towns are walkable and no cars are allowed in towns then they will be quiet and we get more exercise. etc. Are there busses on every block or do people have to buy a car to get to work, or go shopping? It has to do with city planning and taking care of people less fortunate than us. People really care about homelessness in Europe and they don't mind paying for an apartment for the alcoholic, and mentally ill. There is no legalized marijuana or drug use there (the USA also allow drug use like marijuana that is so bad for the brain and create more addictions and homelessness.)
@swirlie This is also true though. Having been to school in both Europe and The USA The USA gives us much better education. Europe track students, not American schools. In the USA you can become what you want, not always in Europe because they close programs if jobs are saturated, and they track students according to ability at times. In the USA it is student centered and in Europe it is teacher centered, homogenous, boring and rote. I love education in the USA and I would have quit if I was in Europe because all they cared about was memorization, not the love of learning, and new ideas.
The USA is the land of opportunity for all. Anyone can get a loan and go to University. In the USA you can become anything you want. Anyone can get a student loan, go to school, and become rich, and start a business. Universities will help!
