Do you know that some Arab countries celebrate something similar to HalloweenđŸ‘» but has nothing to do with it ? It’s adorable !😍💓

In the eastern region of Saudi Arabia 🇾🇩and KuwaitđŸ‡°đŸ‡Œ and other countries in east Arabia and close to the Arabic gulf
They have a tradition of celebrating something called “ Gargee'an” every year.

However, unlike Halloween, kids wear traditional clothes and instead of scaring people kids sing traditional songs to receive candy and they also play traditional games !
Here is a link to learn more about it :

I am from the eastern region of Saudi Arabia ی and this custom is part of my culture however, Saudis from other regions aren't familiar with it.

This honestly looks so much fun, better than Halloween, but then again I'm a scaredy cat and can't tolerate any horror😂

@Zeroyasha It looks fun, but they have just had to complete their Ramadam Fast:)

and what’s wrong with fasting ? You are trying to portray it as a bad thing when it isn’t.
Plus children don’t need to fast nor do they fast in Islam . Most children where I’m from don’t fast. the few who do, do it for a few hours a day for practice and they do it happily and proudly.

What is mind blowing is that You are trying so hard to drag religion into this post when this event has nothing to do with Islam. If it’s an Islamic thing , it would be practiced everywhere .
It’s a traditional event because it’s focused in a specific region (east of Arabia )
Just because they do it during Ramadan , doesn't mean they believe it’s a religious obligation or view it as a religious/holy event.
Plus I grew up participating in it every year and not once did I hear from anyone that it’s a celebration for finishing fast lol

@Moon3624 There is nothing wrong with fasting.

As far as I am aware this event is a part of the Qatari Muslim's expression of their faith. I have not seen any topic where it is not associated with Ramadam or fasting. So you best chat to the internet and tell them to stop dragging religion into this event.

I was pointing out fasting to the gentleman, just in case he did not realise the context of the celebration. Anywhere I look for information on this topic, they said it was a reward for children who fasted.

“ It looks fun, but they have just had to complete their Ramadam Fast:)”

But Sure , I’ll believe you had good intentions because I don’t like to get into people’s intentions.
Either way , I don’t care.

And just to correct you,
It is not just a qatari thing.
And yes , while it’s true it’s associated with Ramadan it’s not an Islamic or a religious practice
It’s a cultural event that was born in a religious community.
Two different things.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Moon3624 That is your problem if you do not believe what I have said and question my intentions.
Moon3624 · 18-21, F
@Zeusdelight I have not , I said I believe you.

Saying “religion expressed in different cultures ”
Is an example of “Eid”
Eid is an Islamic Holiday
But celebrated differently around the globe due to different customs /cultures .
But this (gargee’an) is not comparable.
This is not a Islamic event or holiday or obligation or teaching.
It’s literally just an event about a certain specific culture (east of Arabia ) but started by a religious people .
So They are different things.
I don’t see the comparison.
