Self-made still matters

OK, I await explanations as to why the immigrant crack down is wrong. Please explain why someone comes here illegally, and our government is to welcome them with open arms AND THEN support them. Give them more benefits than the American taxpayer. Why the dedicated headlong rush to make America less Caucasian? Do you that think that way not see what happens when people of color are in charge? There is huge difference between being sightless and buying one’s head in the sand. The stupidity of some battles me. I’m all for giving someone a hand up BUT giving a handout coupled with no contribution needed is asinine. Bleeding hearts content to “the from the rich and give to the poor benefits society only in fairy tales. That is a huge part of society’s problems now. Our children, instead of striving to be contributors sitting upon a fence post waiting for Mommy and Daddy to die. That may be the biggest difference between my generation and today. When I was young my parents struggled to pay their bills, there was there was no-extra money NOR an inheritance waiting. We had to make it on our own. We had to have jobs and work, unlike this new generation. I’m not sure my kids would agree.
The fable of Robin Hood was just that, a fable! Yes the disparity now is huge, people see wealth and fail to realize the perspiration and risk it takes to make it. The inactivity drove me crazy. The chuckle I get watching the cries of tax the rich, are amusing. Everyone, if you ask a wish, wants to be rich BUT fail to realize that doesn’t happen overnight. I sacrificed a lot to be comfortable. I’m certainly not rich!
The Bernie Sanders of the world have lived off the taxpayers ALL their lives. Contributing nothing but hot air and envy. Want to be rich, start a business, invest for the long haul, save, but don’t depend on others, Envy and greed, the haul marks of a dying society. Other people’s money, the answer to those that sit and wait. The Minnesota fraud situation should show you that there is a segment of government that are outright thieves. I don’t believe it’s only the democrats! Government seems to live for itself and no other! George Orwell’s 1984 is quickly becoming reality.
Perhaps reading what the new Virginia governor just did will awaken people to the fact that government only cares about itself. Research it when you can, It will sicken you! Then worry about the 2026 mid terms. IF thy e democrats take either the house OR Senate we will be in for a rough 2 years, perhaps forever!

I'm just going to piss everyone off, from both sides, but say something unpopular anyway. There's a middle ground.

We need immigration reform.

We can't just let everyone in. We don't have the infrastructure or social services for that, there has to be a limit. We can't let our guilt about participating in wars in the middle east influence our quotas for bringing people here.

We need to look at why people are coming here. Is it the land of opportunity? I've heard over and over, across my entire lifetime how bad America is, why would we ever want to bring people here then? Also, this is not manifest destiny, we don't have the west to conquer anymore. We don't have free land to give. We just can't.

There needs to be some sort of documentation process. How do we know the people coming here will be valuable members of society when they can't even prove they are who they say they are.

The people that snuck here are giving all migrants that did it legally a bad name. Why do the work, when you can just sneak in and get everything for free? Where is the incentive?

All that being said, you need to treat people with respect and compassion. That doesn't mean just leaving them alone and not deporting them. But there could be a path to citizenship for everyone. If you are here illegally, you must leave, fill out the paperwork, and wait in line like everyone else. Ramp up the immigration office. Use ice agents to do background checks, get more immigration lawyers and judges.

And lastly, about the "melting pot". I don't see a lot of melting from certain groups coming here. My ancestors spoke German and Polish, and learned English, and shared values with the existing settlers they moved in next to. Now we have no go zones in our largest cities. How is that sustainable?

Coming to America should be an attainable dream for law abiding people of the world. It shouldn't be impossible, and if you make it too difficult, people will just find a way around it.
