Listening to corporal Hegseth lecture the generals I got the impression that the little corporal would like to abolish the Geneva convention even though it was written and ratified by the American government.
@hippyjoe1955 he wants to make the military like it should be

@specman Or like the little corporal thinks it should be. Cute story from a former Canadian Armed Forces officer (me). I was in the officers mess one night and was talking to the base commander. In the not too distant past then PM Trudeau sent in the troops to put down an insurrection in Quebec. As we chatted someone brought up the fact that Quebec is not alone in wanting out of Canada. Alberta where I was at that moment also wanted out. The question then became "Well sir what you do if PM Trudeau ordered you to 'send in the troops' into Alberta. The Old Man kind of smiled and said "Decline the order". The moral of his officers went up knowing that the Old Man was not about to blindly follow a politician.
@hippyjoe1955 the military has to follow orders and be a warrior

@specman Or it can decline the penalty and resign. It is a free country.
@hippyjoe1955 there is no spot for sympathy warriors need to be strong and obedient. That’s how we became the land of the free and the home of the brave

@specman If you think the American revolution is the same as blowing up boats off of Venezuela or helping Israel slaughter Palestinians or starting wars in Ukraine or former Yugoslavia or Libya or Afghanistan or Iraq or Vietnam or Korea....... You have a very twisted view of what being America is all about.
@hippyjoe1955 we were talking about obedience and strength! Where did this other stuff come from? Trying to change the subject because you know I’m right about strength and obedience?
