According to Republicans "Progress" is a bad thing..

Exactly how did that happen???
Here is a quote from Eric Levine. A heavy duty Republican fundraiser. Now the central point is anti Trump. But thats not the bit I want to focus on. He also talks about the progressive agenda as if its the manifesto of the antichrist. As if progress itself was evil.. How did that happen???
“I don’t think it is fair to call Donald Trump a damaged candidate,” said Eric Levine, a top GOP fundraiser who has been calling on the party to move on from Trump since the 2020 election and the uprising at the Capitol. “He is a metastasizing cancer who if he is not stopped is going to destroy the party. Donald Trump is a loser. He is the first president since Hoover to lose the House, the Senate and the presidency in a single term. Because of him Chuck Schumer is the Leader Schumer, and the progressive agenda is threatening to take over the country. And he is probably the only Republican in the country, if not the only person in the country, who can’t beat Joe Biden.”

The rest of the world is focused on progress..The times are a'changing...😷

Disclaimer: I haven't read Burke in the original; just some stuff about him.

Many consider Edmund Burke (1729-97) to be the founding father of conservatism. One of Burke's main principles was sorta "we don't know what we're doing, so change should be gradual." So in a sense, some resistance to progress was baked into their philosophy (back when they had a philosophy) from the get-go.

But what we're seeing now is a total abandonment of gradualism; a pell mell race implement as many right wing bullet points as fast as possible. Without gradualism, it doesn't deserve the name conservatism; it's just a different kind of radical social movement.

@ElwoodBlues I accept the principle of gradual change. But that is still change. What we see in America is retrograde steps on multple fronts. That leads to a greater pressure for change and that leads to revolt... Your change must keep pace with your surroundings, in this case, the rest of the world.😷
