I Despise Conservative Religious Extreamist

I Despise Arrogance... I am NOT a "Conservative Religious Extremist." I am certainly not an "Extremist," I am barely "Religious," but I admit to being "Conservative." I think it is both hilariously funny and incredibly hypocritical of anyone who takes such a position, especially those who worship at the alter of secular humanism and those who strenuously support Evolution over Creationism.

While I do not believe in Creationism and I DO believe in Evolution, both are called "THEORIES" because neither has been proven and neither can be disproved because it is not possible to disprove a negative. The reason both are theories is that incontrovertible proof in accordance with the Scientific Method does not exist in either case. While it is my opinion and that of many others that the evidence in support of evolution is considerable, evidence is NOT proof. Similarly, while it is my opinion that the evidence in support of creationism is weaker, believers can cite evidence in their favor as well. Furthermore, religious creationism is supported in the minds of many by religious and spiritual Faith in one God, the creator. Why is their faith, supported at least by the Bible, any less valid than the faith of secular humanists who have less on which to ba<x>se their faith?

IF our schools are going to insist on teaching evolution, then it MUST be taught as theory. Furthermore, it is not an unreasonable request that if the theory of evolution is to be taught, that students should also be told that there are alternative theories, such as the theory of creationism.

Being largely secular myself and something of a science fiction buff, I personally believe that the theory of extraterrestrial creationism is another potentially valid idea that is at least as valid when applied to Human life, at least until such time as we are able to clearly identify the complete evolutionary path that led to Homo Sapiens.

Finally, why is it necessarily true that evolution and creationism are mutually exclusive. That is not the case, at least until such time as a theory of creation has been proven and ba<x>sed on recent evidence, many Cosmologists are beginning to doubt the Big Bang theory that I was taught in school. Unless one is willing to believe in an infinite and perpetual universe, where did our universe originate and how? Please stop with the anti-religious arrogance and condescension.

I am in no way embarrassed by my position and while I do believe in evolution up to a Point, I also believe that ultimately, God created the heavens and the earth and that he made man in his own image - as a self aware, thinking, rational being, not necessarily in his physical appearance.

Thanks for speaking against the intolerance and arrogance of this group. You can leave it once the story has gone off your recent activity feed if you don't want to lend credence to it by your presence.

This is precisely my stance. You have written it in a far better fashion than I could have and I thank you for putting this post out.
