What the crap? The snack bag of chili coated peanuts I bought says "Can contain traces of peanuts"

Do all companies just default to printing that on their stuff now to avoid lawsuit, even in the cases when there both DEFINITELY are peanuts in there, and most likely not at all peanuts in there?
