I have to say I'm impressed.
When did you join SW, please?

@helenS I have had the habit of leaving and coming back, 1st joined when it was new, this account just a few months old. Yeah for this piece just the 1st section speaks to me, and in the film mentioned there's a Schubert also which i keep forgetting which it is. I remember you have a strong classical love, with Wagner for instance.

@SW-User Yes my love for Wagner's music borders on obsession. Generally I see late romanticism as the pinnacle of music.
I would love to appreciate serialism but I feel it's too intellectual to really speak to my soul.

@helenS Baroque and minimalism are two of my faves. You gotta have pretty specific needs for someone like Schoenberg or Pierre Boulez to speak to ya!!

@SW-User I can enjoy Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire", and, to some degree, his Wind Quintet op. 26.

@helenS Pierrot Lunaire is iconic, Michelangelo Antonioni liked it alot.

@SW-User Pierrot Lunaire is pre-serialism, it's really free music.

@helenS Correct. If you get a chance, i think you'd enjoy Die Zweite Heimat by Edgar Reitz, a series which deals copiously with the musical avant-garde in 60's Germany. ☺️
