I've just listened to Beethoven's Choral symphony. It was such a joyful piece of music, it's actually made me fill up. I've fallen in love with this music.

The ninth is probably the greatest work of the classical period. It is the essence of enlightenment. From the darkness into the light. All men shall be brothers.
@jackieash Danger Will Robinson! If you have recently started getting into classical music, you will soon find most other music rather shallow in comparison.
@jackieash Here's another one that will blow you into the stratosphere: Schubert, Der Tod und das Maedchen ("Death and the Maiden"), arranged by Gustav Mahler. Rarely ever has something touched my soul so deeply.
@NativeOregonian Some say that this piece truly is one that they can only imagine being interpreted as a string quartet. There's more intimacy in the original quartet version.
@Mugin16 ... and again interesting. I used to be a big fan of Bach when I was a young girl, because I liked the maths behind the music. It was an intellectual joy. When I got older I very much fell in love with Romantic music (such as Schubert's "Death of a Maiden", meantioned earlier in this thread). It touches my soul much more deeply.
