Curtis Mayfield, "Give Me Your Love" (1972)

From the soundtrack for Superfly, some iconic songs that revived Mayfield’s career back in the 70s. The movie itself is dated now and could probably be taken or left (although many of us found Ron O’Neal quite easy on the eyes…). But Mayfield’s music is eternal.

What a fantastic and timeless song. Give me your love is another one of those great songs that has been covered by a lot of bands and artists of who’s who.
The mark of great song is, no matter who made the cover it has always maintained integrity.
Never a bad version of this song, just different takes on a great song performed by so many artists.

Still worth a view every now and again as is all the Blaxploitation stuff.
But certainly a great soundtrack

Mayfield’s music is eternal.

Couldn't agree more.

You can absolutely hear Curtis's influence every time Pharrell Williams sings. I hear Prince, too. Nice production--that little flurry of notes at 1:07 is Zappa-worthy.
