Amazing pieces of classical music - 19

Beethoven's Fidelio from 1964, conducted by Maazel in Vienna with Nilsson and McCracken, seems at first glance a strange choice when almost everyone is talking about Klemperer in London with Ludwig and Vickers. McCracken, however, has the most poignant longing for freedom in his voice in the great scene at the beginning of Act II, which should leave no one unmoved. Something one doesn't hear but truly feels: "Gott!" "Welch Dunkel hier!" The cry of humanity whenever darkness apparently has the upper hand for now
