Faure - acquired taste

I went to a violin and piano recital of Faure on Sunday morning. But was not all that impressed. It was given by Jane Gordan violin and Ian Rautio. So I bought a recording by the Nash Ensemble, to compare. Gordan and Rautio were superior, more expressive and melodic. It was actually Faure music that did not impress. The violin sonatas are not for me.

It's interesting how different interpretations of the same pieces of music can vary in impact and personal preference. While the violin and piano recital featuring Jane Gordan and Ian Rautio may have left you underwhelmed, it's great that you found their performance to be superior in expression and melody compared to the recording by the Nash Ensemble.
@Liacheng Thanks. That surprised me too.
You would think the Nash Ensemble would be a high benchmark.

Look out for Jane Gordon’s Beethoven work, she has recently recorded it.

I love his Requiem. A stunning piece of music
@OldBrit Yes, I agree. But these were his sonatas.

The listen with mother tune is also good.
My favorite has always been Après un Rêve
