For me it all comes back to Bach.
Hgingat · 18-21, F
Dad is a Bach fanatic@Bartleby
carolinehugz · 46-50, F
@Hgingat Mine too. Maybe it's a dad thing🤔
Bartleby · 51-55, M
@carolinehugz, @Hgingat Haha, it very well may be. He was the original baroque badass.

Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
Ludwig Van Beethoven! He was from Bonn, my hometown. 😊
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
@StrawberryMilkshake I like the violin Sonata, Op 47, the “Kreutzer” 😊
Fluffybull · F
@Manfredthemanic Wonderful music but his life was quite tragic ❤️
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
Yes, it was sad, Fluffy, mostly what happened to him as a kid. @Fluffybull

Edvard grieg
@PhoenixPhail You can break it down further, but among the commercial genres, it’s classical (as opposed to rock, country, jazz, etc.)
Docdon23 · M
@vetguy1991 Love Peer Gynt and especially his piano concerto!!!

Tchaikovsky, Nutcracker and War of 1812 are borderline pop hits.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i have been to his grave in Austria. I love him and Chopin
Docdon23 · M
@akindheart Perhaps, like several he died a poor man, and they could not afford more?? I know many artists and composers died poor and only achieved true fame after death...and thus no fortune. I have been to Germany and Austria but never these graves (only the one in Paris with many famous people).
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Docdon23 i have been to Pere LaChaise too. you have to go to the outskirts of Vienna and take a trolley to the cemetery but it is well worth it. they are all together.
Docdon23 · M
@akindheart I do love Beethoven--I play several of his sonatas and the Emperor on the piano--and I do love Vienna as well!! Will go there someday...when travel gets easier...thank you!!!

@StrawberryMilkshake Keefy turned 78...surely the Stones must be classical by now.

@StrawberryMilkshake When I was a teen I had a poster of him on my bedroom wall. I kid you not!
Beethoven. His 8th. with "Ode to joy" chorus.
@bijouxbroussard Stunning. I can't imagine having this kind of genius. Makes me feel very humble.
Docdon23 · M
@bijouxbroussard I love playing that on the piano--so active and exciting!!
@Docdon23 So do I, for the same reason ! 😊
That’s an easy one. Beethoven has no equal. But for living composers, I’d say Arvo Pärt.
Docdon23 · M
I love classical music!! I play it on the piano, including many Beethoven sonatas!!!
I've always LOVED Beethoven.
But I think I'll have to go with Mozart.

and his family disowned him after the name change :)

@PhoenixPhail Glad you like it! Did you know he was also a leading astronomer of the 1700's and discovered Uranus? He first thought it was a comet. He was like the Brian May (Queen) of his time.
@SW-User No, I didn't know that. Surprisingly (to me), I'm not familiar with William Herschel. Thanks for introducing me to him and this piece. This was a first-listen for me.
Montanaman · M
Fredrick fuckin ' Chopin 😎
Docdon23 · M
I go through fads, cannot decide--love Beethoven, also Scriabin, Chopin, Tchaikowsky, Greig, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Balakirev, Lizst...and cesar Franck;s sonata for violin and piano is sensational (but he wrote little else of merit)
I like Kurt Weill.
Another one I love is Chopin:

@bijouxbroussard
Aren’t you a pianist?
@Pfuzylogic Yes. Violinist, too, but my primary instrument is piano.
Pfuzylogic · M
@bijouxbroussard
I always thought of Chopin by the piano.
