My State of Texas

About this time one week ago my family arrived at my best friend’s home because their daughter was missing in the Guadelupe River flood from Camp Mystic. Over the first couple press conferences were respectful and honoring the victims. Then the national media came in and it became a blame game. Specifically President Trump. To me this sickening. Whether you like him or not. To infer that he as a person or his policies contributed to this tragedy is sick.

I have two very close friends who have missing daughters right now. One where I live and one in the Houston area. I have been with my best friend here everyday. I’ve watched her and her husband cry. I’ve watched them completely zone out. I held her while she collapsed after walking into her daughter’s room a couple days ago.

If you are that shallow enough to blame one man based off your hate for him, you are a sick human. If you are doing that for political gain the you are even sicker. If you don’t like this post then block me.

Facts... you cut or delay the funding, then you also hurt the service that it provides you. America has built up a lot of safety nets, and a certain President is trying to get rid of all of them because he personally doesn't need them... but the American people still do.

On July 5, a day after the devastating floods in Texas, FEMA's disaster assistance line received 3,027 calls and answered 99.7% of them, according to documents seen by the New York Times. The documents show, however, that hundreds of call center workers at four companies were fired the same day after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem failed to renew their contracts. According to the documents, FEMA, which has been part of Homeland Security since 2003, answered only around 36% of the 2,363 calls it received on July 6. On July 7, FEMA received 16,419 calls and only answered 2,613 of them, around 16%. The call center workers' contracts were not renewed until Thursday, five days after they expired.

@sstronaut you can take your liberal rant and kindly move on. You want facts? FEMA does nothing remotely close to preventing a natural disaster or helping in recovery efforts. Your previous comment was equally ridiculous. There is no life saving resource that can stop a river from rising 26 feet in 45 minutes. And a warning system was in place and warnings were sent out at 1:00 and 4:00 in the morning to a remote area with very little cell phone service. Cutting funding to FEMA or eliminating it totally has nothing to do with what happened. You like the other leftists are looking for ways to place blame for the storm and loss of life on President Trump. It is completely politically motivated because your party has nothing else to stand on.
@KateATX I'm actually a Republican not a liberal.

But you misunderstood, this was just an example of were they're failing to keep the payments going and hurting the responses and FEMA does respond.

And in this case the failure was in the payment of the Weather watchers which would of gotten a warning out sooner.

But nope, you don't want to talk politics, but you just political attack others when they simply shared facts.

So you do want to talk politics, you just want to pretend like you don't, so you can play the victim.

It's kind simple, take the safety guards away, and more people are going to die. And this is just proof.

I'm so sorry to the great people of Texas and the family and friends that lost someone. But this is why they need to keep the safety nets in place.

Or people need to adjust to not having government help. Because the help is being taken away.

@sstronaut you are not a Republican, maybe a RINO. You fail to understand the meaning of this whole post and go where the libs go- the whole situation is Trump’s fault and looking for a local to blame as well. Your timeline is full of anti Trump posts. Enough of you.

@sstronaut Correction: You’re a Republican, not a Democrat.

Not all Democrats are liberals, and not all liberals are Democrats.

Lyndon Johnson was a high-ranking Democrat for decades but he famously detested liberals.

He said “The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal from Texas.”

And Nelson Rockefeller, Jacob Javits, Roy Goodman, and others were liberal Republicans.
