Measles outbreak in East Texas: 11 confirmed cases in Lamar County

“ PARIS, Texas - According to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, as of Friday, there are 11 reported cases of measles in Lamar County. The East Texas county, which includes Paris, is one of ten Texas counties designated as having "ongoing measles transmission."
The first measles cases in Lamar county were reported on March 14, in individuals who traveled to Gaines County, the center of the measles outbreak in Texas. The next day, two more cases were reported. Since then, there have been four additional cases confirmed in Lamar County.
Exposure sites include a Walmart in Paris, Paris Junior High School, the Dollar Store in Powderly, and a Dairy Queen in Powderly.”
