I Live In Texas

Texas...love it here. Not lived here all my life but now I am, I'm pretty settled. I like where I live. I can get to the beach in a day, the mountains in a day, canyons in day, forests in day. People complain about the heat, but I'd prefer that then being snowed in under 8ft of cold stuff.

Hi. Tell us more about why you love Texas. All I really know about it is the Alamo.
@Abrienda Well, it's difficult to explain really. Anything specific? Like I said, weather, lots of stuff to do in the state. One of the few states with no state income tax :)

@aboveaverageaveragejoe Okay...let's start with people. A Czech friend of mine was studying there and said he never met friendlier or more considerate people.
@Abrienda I find the people here very friendly, except when they're behind the wheel of a car, and then you might as well be enemy number 1. Drivers can be extremely aggressive, especially those who don't know how to drive very well.

@aboveaverageaveragejoe Well okay but you ought to see Saudi's drive!

So how about food? And what is the Panhandle?
@Abrienda A "panhandle" is a part of a state that "sticks out". If you look at a map of Texas, right in the North West you'll see a square bit. That's the Texas panhandle region. If you look at Oklahoma just north of the TX panhandle, you'll see the OK panhandle. Amarillo and Lubbuck are the panhandle area, along with the Palo Duro canyon.

Food. There's a lot of cultured in the area so there's a wide variety with Tex-Mex being the most obvious due to the Mexican population but there's also lots of European places such as French, German, Polish, Italian. Also Asian like Chinese, Indian, etc. The "local" food is burgers pretty much. You can find pretty much any food you like in the Dallas area, and probably Houston and San Antonio too, the 3 largest cities in TX.

@aboveaverageaveragejoe Yes I know what the "Panhandle" is but was asking about how it is there and guess I was not too clear about that!
@Abrienda You asked "What is the panhandle"

@aboveaverageaveragejoe I BELIEVE I said my question wasn't too clear, yes? But thank you anyway and nevermimd.
