Just a few days left before the big move.
I don't feel 100% ready physically or emotionally, but I think I never will.
The city I'm going to is not a beautiful one. It's got wide roads, crappy weather, an iffy restaurant scene, and only a few good transit lines that are close to where I live. It's not cosmopolitan and not particularly lively. I don't know really if I made the right decision, if this is the optimal place for me.
But I do sincerely believe that I'll be happier there than I am here, because everything I need will be within arm's reach. I will have a grocery store, an outdoor pool, a coworking space, a massage therapist, a gym, a courtyard, a public park, a walking path, a dentist's office, a few passable restaurants, some bars, and lots of people my age within a short walk. I will have a beach, a movie theater, a performing arts center, a climbing gym, a library, and lots of other really cool stuff within a reasonable transit ride.
It will definitely be the easiest I've ever lived, and when day-to-day life is easy, I'll have that much more time freed up for making friends and developing as a person. I really think that's the crux of why suburbanites are the way they are; they spend so much time commuting, hauling groceries, driving to the gym, the trail, that they just don't have energy for self-improvement and socializing. I feel like that's who I've become.
