I was born in Italy (unfortunately), in a town with a long name.

You grew up doing the “feast of seven fishes” during Christmas?

@XenonRush Oh my, you caught me off guard! I've had to Google it because I've never heard of it... apparently it's Italian-American and in fact I never did it lol

According to this Italian article, nobody in Italy knows what it is: https://www.pesceinrete.com/la-festa-dei-sette-pesci-il-menu-della-tradizione-italo-americana-che-nessuno-in-italia-conosce/
La Festa dei Sette Pesci, il menù della tradizione italo-americana che nessuno in Italia conosce --> The Feast of seven fishes, the Italian-American tradition menu which no-one in Italy knows about...

Oh wow! Never knew that!

How about, the dialect of Italian you speak is completely unintelligible to the region right next to you, cause they have their own dialect?

@XenonRush Yep, that's correct! I grew up in Tuscany and I can't understand dialects from the other regions! I have a friend from Lombardy and sometimes she would use words from her dialect, and I had to ask her the "translation"! When I speak Italian I tend to use the standard version, but sometimes (especially when I get angry or annoyed) I automatically switch to dialect.

@dareme Isn't that feast an X-mas tradition?
dareme · 36-40, MVIP
@fanuc2013 Not in Italy, but in the USA by Italian-American families. I've never heard of it before today and that Italian article confirmed my suspects: it's a feast unknown in Italy because it's not celebrated there, but in the USA.
