It’s always fascinating how places have weird little quirks about how they pronounce things

Our Lancaster is pronounced different from the one in PA.

And here in Columbia the night life happens on Gervais street. Pronounced Jer-Vay, not all that weird. But to get to Gervais off the interstate you have to take Huger Street

Which is pronounced You-Gee. Three fifths of that word is silent and the other two are just said like in the alphabet

Somebody make that make sense 🤣
