The Greatest Christmas Gift You'll Ever Receive

God's forgiveness of sin through His son, Jesus Christ, is the greatest and most expensive Christmas Gift that anyone will ever receive. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son (as a Gift), that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

Imagine for a moment that you really want to show someone that you love them, so you basically give everything you have, to buy a truly special Christmas gift for them.

When the time comes for you to present this incredible gift to the person you love, he or she says, “Oh, that is really sweet of you! But I really couldn’t take this.”

“Wait a second,” you say. “I gave up everything to give you this gift because I want to show my love to you. Merry Christmas.”

“I really can’t accept it. It’s so nice of you. I appreciate it, but no. Maybe later. Would you mind holding on to it and maybe give it to me in a month? I’ll look at it then.”

You would be outright offended, wouldn’t you?

In the same way, Jesus comes to us and says, “I love you so much, that I took on your sins and paid them for you on the cross, so that you could be forgiven of all your sins and have heaven as your eternal home. It’s My gift to you.”

Yet some people essentially say, “Oh, that is so sweet. Thank you, but no. Would you mind waiting? Maybe in a month or so. I’ll get back to you.”

God has a gift for you, and He purchased it at great cost. He’s offering you the gift of eternal life, bought for you by Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus purchased it with His own blood. You can never afford it. And you can never pay Him back.

The best thing you can do, is to simply say, “Lord, thank you. I receive Your gift.”

Jesus died, so that we might live. That is the greatest gift you will ever receive. And if you haven’t received Him and His saving grace yet, He hopes you'll receive Him, right now.

Come every soul, by sin oppressed,
There's mercy with the Lord.
And He will surely give you rest
By trusting in His word.

Only trust Him, only trust Him
Only trust Him now...
He will save you, He will save you
He will save you now.

For Jesus shed His precious blood
Rich blessings to bestow
Plunge now into the crimson flood
That washes white as snow.

Only trust Him, only trust Him
Only trust Him now
He will save you, He will save you
He will save you now.

Yes, Jesus is the truth, the way
That leads you into rest.
Believe in Him, without delay
And you are fully blessed.

Only trust Him, only trust Him
Only trust Him now
He will save you, He will save you
He will save you now.
Amen I've actually thought of this title before the post- there is a church in my area which my wife and I go to for midweek bible study- they are doing a carol service this Sunday and the pastor won't mince his words about the gospel.

Prayers for many hearts to come to Christ for this service would be appreciated!
@LadyGrace Yes, saying this I particularly had in mind the church I go to for Wednesday bible study, all of them, without fail always mention the gospel and asking if we've really called out to Christ.

The church I'm going to for carol service tonight with relatives is a rare gem of an Anglican (Episcopal) church where the gospel is preached and the bible taken seriously

@BritishFailedAesthetic yes indeed, I agree wholeheartedly with you. A church that does not emphasize salvation or give an invitation is not worth much. Blessings on your service tonight. I know you will really enjoy it.
@LadyGrace Thankyou we certainly will! Who knows there may be some intense questioning from my relatives at the Lebanese after 😅
