There is a GOD! 🌧

Remember when Rainguy was mentioning the wildfires in Oregon recently?

Well, as most of you know me, I prayed for rains from the Chicago side to move to Oregon and extinguish all the forest fires 🔥 🙏🥺

Guess what? It’s actually raining there for past few days now and the wildfires have been contained! 😇👯‍♀️👯‍♀️👯‍♀️

And on that awesome note, THANK YOU, GODJI! 💝💐

And Hallelujah, sister!

You know how prayers are answered now, Joy….this isn’t the first time that has happened.

But I wonder what you think of this from your atheistic POV. 🤔

I do not think there are supernatural powers, so I do not think prayer can have such supernatural effects.

Now, it can have natural effects on moods, even those who witness it. I am sure it made you feel good and hopeful. I know I appreciate such gestures. But I do not think they are being heard by God or some Powers, since I do not think those things are real.

I confess I was not sure how to reply, since you already knew how I felt, anyway. But I just wanted to acknowledge I read it, because I adore you immensely, and value your attention.

Sometimes with people and in situations where I have nothing to say, rather than just hearting or using a "reaction" emoji, I read back what they wrote, using other emojis. I've learned people like it.
@JoyfulSilence I appreciate your friendship v much…and you know it. 🤗

I do not think there are supernatural powers

I know you don’t see God and hence you don’t believe in Him. But supernatural powers could be within humans too. Not everyone, but there are some who can do extraordinary mind boggling things…how will you justify those actions then?

For example, look at the movie ‘The men who stare at goats’ or this YT video…

I just think that whatever runs the universe outside us also runs what is inside us, and that we are not special.

Of course, nobody understands everything yet. But I just think that our minds must be governed only by physics and chemistry. No "magic."

I will look at that video later. I do not wish to disturb the other people eating lunch around me. Thanks.
Ok…I’ll wait for that. @JoyfulSilence

Interesting video. Somehow he found a trick.

But those forks look cheap. So easy to break.

It reminds me of the Matrix. "There is no spoon."

I do admit when it comes to supernatural things, I am pre-biased to think they are not there, because it does not fit into my notion of reality. That is, it is largely an a priori notion, not something where I have studied things empirically and made some conclusion.

I am more a mathematician than a scientist. I create models and branch off them. There are the models of physics. Yes, they are corralled by reality, and incomplete, and approximate, but still many exist on their own right, as mathematical models.

If there are some odd powers in the world that do not fit into the models of physics, then I feel they would be more impersonal and universal. That is, not geared toward people, or humans, or Earth, etc. Why should we be special?

Of course if there is a personal Abrahamic God I suppose he could set things up any way he likes and it does not need to make any sense. It can be human and personal, etc. It can be "magical".

I just think all these notions are pure fantasy. Sorry.

Thanks for sharing, though.

And caring.

And not holding it against me. Of course I do wish all people were atheists like me. But it is what it is. If I want to survive and thrive, I must learn to navigate the society I was embedded in.
Haha…I was looking forward to your conclusion. Honestly, arguing with a mathematician is any day better than arguing with a numb-nut who speaks without thinking.

So in mathematical terms, it’s like when we assume a certain unknown to be ‘x’, I like to call that x, ‘God’. Simple! 😏@JoyfulSilence

You think God lies on the real number line (or is it multidimensional real space?).

I think God lies on the imaginary number line.

Hmm, maybe God is a complex number?

I read some of his book. He certainly likes barbeque. Lifestock and sinners!

🔥
@JoyfulSilence He lies in every dimension, wherever you use an ‘infinite’ symbol & wherever you mention a constant (coz He is reliable and forever) and wherever you make an assumption based on certain constants. 🤪

He’s also a limitless variable, mind you…and since He is the beginning of all numbers, He is also the number 0.

So imagine someone that can be a zero in one instance, and infinity ♾ in the next.

That is a miracle in itself or a magic of sorts…or a series of time lapses that are invisible to the naked eye.

Is he the set of all sets that do not contain themselves?
@JoyfulSilence He’s the superset…yes!

He is such a paradox.

If you open two older Word
files on your screen, you have a pair of .doc's.
@JoyfulSilence He puts the sense in senseless 😇

🤣 What will you call a raging bull?

@JoyfulSilence haha…🤭
