I thank you, God, who gives us victory over sin and death, through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (1 Corinthians 15:55-56).

This Sunday we celebrate the feast of the victory of Jesus, over the powers of death. On the surface, seeing only with worldly eyes, it seems like death has the final word. But Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, demonstrated true victory for believers. Truly, nothing–not even death–can keep us from the love of God (Romans 8:38). He showed us that because he lived and resurrected from the dead, so shall we!!

Jesus not only said He loves us... He proved it. And even though it was our sins that put him on the cross, he still called us his friends. Could you do that, if someone treated you this way? Near the end of his death, he looked up to His Father in heaven, and said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not, what they do!" His very last words were, "Father, into thine hands, I commend myself. It is finished!" Then he hung his head, and died...His mission to pay for our sins, accomplished. He is rightly and justly, our Mediator between God and man. Salvation is His free gift to us, but it cost Him, his life. If we want to accept his sacrifice as payment for our sins, we have but to tell him, and ask for his forgiveness of our sins. He'll never turn you away.

I thank God that he did not leave us to guess what happens to us after we leave this earth. Jesus' love extends beyond earthly limitations, including death itself. His love is not just a human emotion, but a divine force that offers hope and everlasting life to those who believe in Him.
