“By His power, God raised Jesus from the dead, and He will raise us also.” 1 Corinthians 6:14,
No matter what life brings, Our Hope is secure in Christ our Redeemer
This is the great treasure Paul spoke of, in 2 Corinthians 4—the “extraordinary power” which can only be from God Himself and not from us (v. 7). Believers carry Christ’s death and resurrection in us—the power of His atonement and the glory of His resurrected life (v. 10). How exciting!!!
This life and the things of this world, are temporary. They will fade. Our troubles, our pains, our afflictions—they, too, shall fade. But our living Redeemer will never die, and His resurrection power will never fade. As Paul goes says, “Even though our outer person shall decay at death, our inner person is being renewed day by day!” (2 Corinthians 4:16).
Our soul never dies! Paul is telling us that like Christ, born again believers shall never die. They have the same resurrection power as Christ had, from His Father. Our souls live on and Christ proved that by his own Resurrection. Just as he resurrected from the dead and then ascended unto heaven to His Father, God has given us that same promise.
C.S. Lewis wrote, “a continual looking forward to the eternal world is not a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do.”
In other words, Jesus didn't leave us to guess. We know where we’ll spend eternity—because of Jesus' resurrection and perfect example. And due to our transformation by the Holy Spirit, our inner life and resurrection through Jesus Christ, is real... both now and for eternity. We live with confidence in this eternal, hope because our Redeemer is indeed alive. He alone is our hope.
“So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” - Colossians 3:1-4
Christ is our eternal hope forever. Colossians 1:27, says, "To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." and 1 Peter 1:3-5 speaks of a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 1:3-5 - "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God, through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
This passage highlights the "living hope" believers have through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is a hope that is eternal and can never perish.
"God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable, because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge, can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain, into God’s inner sanctuary." Hebrews 6:18 - 19
Jesus said he has anchored our soul, and brought it into the very Presence of God. If you want to abound in hope…Keep your eyes on Jesus! Not on your problems, circumstances, etc.
Peter started to sink into the waves of the sea, when he took his eyes off Jesus, so we must KEEP your eyes on Jesus, and watch what He will do! I believe the resounding reminder of the old hymn, Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.... look full in His wonderful face... and the cares of world shall grow faintly dim, in the light of His glory and grace!
