So, if Jesus said that the rapture would happen while some of the people he was talking to were still alive...

What's the point of going to church? It already happened and our ancestors were obviously left behind.

@Adstar Jesus never mentioned the Rapture at all since it did not exist as a concept until the 19th century. OP is confusing it with the Second Coming.

He didn't. The concept of 'the Rapture" is only held by certain sections of the Christian Church and even they can't agree on when/if it will happen. Others take a less literal view of those parts of the Bible.

To my understanding, Jesus never explicitly spoke of the Rapture. It seems to be an later interpretation of some of His messages.
Jesus never mentioned the Rapture, since it didn't exist as a concept until the 19th century. You're confusing it with the Second Coming, which Jesus said would happen before the generation he was addressing had passed away.
