The ark story is worldwide, in every part of the world when investigated enough. It seems it really happened, a global phenomenon, but that southern gothic biblical thing is silliness inc.

@Ohplease47 I could spend the next half hour deconstructing exactly why a global flood followed by a recovery of all life on Earth is ridiculous and impossible, but it's my bedtime, so just pretend I did.
