I'm a grad student in world religions if that helps!
I see you've got a positive answer from Christian tradition. I can give you one from Jewish tradition too. In the Bible, Jacob is married to four women and between them they have twelve sons. They may have several daughters too, but only one daughter is named in the story, Dinah. There was rivalry among the four wives as to which would have more sons (yes it was a patriarchal society). According to a Jewish legend, Dinah was actually conceived as a boy. Her mother, Leah, who already had several sons, did not want to upset her sister-wives by having another boy child. She prayed about it, and God turned the fetus in her womb into a girl, Dinah. So the upshot is that a change of gender can very much be God's will. Today Dinah is a kind of patron saint for trans Jews. So from that tradition, too, your relationship with God can continue strong.
