So here's the biggest problem that I have with Christianity...

It's a trap.

Every time something comes along, every time some major disaster comes, the same group of people always say the same thing. "Oh, it'll be fine. Jesus is coming back, he'll take care of everything. We don't have to lift a finger to help ourselves, because he'll help us."'

And then they wait for their special friend to come down from the heavens and do something about it, when humans could just get together and do something about it ourselves.

Why? Because they think they know how the story ends. And the ending of that story encourages laziness. Because according to that story, as long as you close your eyes and telepathically tell the magic man In the sky that you accept his sacrifice, everything will magically work itself out. You'll get a whole new world when this one is ruined, so none of it matters.

And all of that (surprise!) was written by people who were already in authority, who didn't want a challenge to set authority.

People who liked the way the world was.

"Be meek and submit to authority," says the book that was shaped by numerous translations under command of various rulers. "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's," says Caesar. "Don't worry if the world passes away,"' say the people strip mining the world.

In other words, it's more propaganda meant to keep people from rising up against the real evils of the world.

And it works.
